Stakeholder conference: "Towards near-zero waste at European and global level"

BRUSSELS 2016 | Stakeholder conference: "Towards near-zero waste at European and global level"

On 8-9 June 2016, we will discuss, together with our stakeholders, roadmaps towards an innovative, near zero waste Europe.   Join us for this interactive stakeholder conference on the future of Europe’s circular economy. Let’s start preparing together for this event that will gather all the actors in the field: companies, researchers and governmental organizations. Let us know what your organization wants to address!

THE EVENT
The concept of circular economy assumes turning waste into a resource and thus eliminate waste. The ambitious objective of a near zero waste economy requires systemic changes throughout value chains involving new business models, new technologies, organisation, policies and consumer behaviour facilitated by a broad participation of stakeholders. Moving to more circular economic models opens space for research and business driven innovation opportunities.

Get involved in this process and take part in the NEW_InnoNet Stakeholder Conference 2016: Towards near-zero waste at European and global level:
  • Shaping the new European Strategic Research and InnovationAgenda
  • Drafting European Circular Economy Roadmaps
  • High level circular economy speakers
  • Industry, research and government gathered
WHAT’S IN THE EVENT FOR YOU?
Drafting the Roadmaps and the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda is an interactive process. The event is an opportunity for the actors from the fi eld to provide quality input from their perspective to the documents and the shared vision. After all, it is a chance to all players to shape the future settings for their activity.
NEW_InnoNet therefore invites industry, policy makers, research organisations, branch associations and all other parties concerned with the near zero waste economy.

Key for the NEW_InnoNet project is to off er the stakeholders a discussion forum enabling them to express their opinions on the bottlenecks, exchange experiences and propose action ideas to overcome them and fi nally to build a common way leading to a near zero waste objective in our 3 value chains: WEEE, ELVs and plastics.

WHAT DO WE WANT TO ACCOMPLISH AND HOW?
The aim of the event is to establish foundations for a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda for Europe that will facilitate accomplishing the challenging objectives of the Circular Economy Package in particular those related to recycling, recovery and reuse targets for the three selected value chains and waste streams:
  • Automotive industry – end of life vehicles (ELVs),
  • Electronics and electric equipment – electronic waste (WEEE),
  • Fast moving consumer goods – plastics.

Day one - June 8, 2016

Plenary Sessions: Presentations and discussion on barriers and solutions for a Circular Economy

High level speakers will present their view on the circular economy in Europe. Bottlenecks on the way to the near-zero waste Europe for the selected waste streams have been identifi ed by experts within the NEW_InnoNet project. They will be presented and discussed with the participants. Feedback from the stakeholders will serve as an input to the proposal of a European Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (ESRIA) on near zero waste Europe.
